Light up a Life returns to support those missing loved ones this Christmas
The festive season can be difficult for those missing loves ones. To help, one local charity is organising an event this December to support those who wish to remember and celebrate the lives of those who won’t be with us this year.
Light up a Life, hosted by Winchester Hospice, will be returning to Christ Church on Monday 1 December and everyone is invited along, regardless of whether you know someone who has been cared for by the hospice or not.
This annual celebration, which is free to attend, combines a mix of carols, readings and performances th at celebrate the lives of loved ones and offers you a space to remember and reflect. The short service, which begins at 6pm, will be followed by refreshments which everyone is welcome to enjoy.
Talking about the event, which is now in its third year, fundraising manager at the hospice Jo Westerman said: “We know important events in the calendar such as Christmas can be incredibly difficult for those missing loved ones. Light up a Life gives our community the opportunity to come together as the festive season begins, providing a space to remember all those special memories we shared. It’s a really uplifting service that allows us to cherish those who won’t be with us this year.”
The remembrance event is kindly being supported by local estate agents Sam and Nony Kerr-Smiley who said: “We’re incredibly proud to be supporting this poignant event in the calendar. We’ve been supporters of the hospice since its inception as we can see how much the team does for our local community. We’re honoured to be able to support them through Light up a Life and help provide the people of Winchester with an event where they can remember loved ones this Christmas.”
As part of the event, the Winchester community is invited to make a dedication to someone they love in the hospice’s book of remembrance which will be on display to view before and after the event.
