Visitor information

If you are visiting the hospice, we kindly ask that you follow the guidelines set out below here whilst you are with us.

When the reception is closed, please use the intercom at the main reception door and the hospice team will open the door for you.  Make your way through the door into the main reception area, turn left and report to the nurses’ station.

Please be aware that staff may be busy with patients and may not respond straight away to the intercom. We appreciate your patience.

Staff

You will be told the name of the nurse who is responsible for your or your loved one’s care each day. The senior nurses will be your point of contact for any questions you have or information you want.

Your named nurse will change as staff go on and off duty but you will be informed of this change and the information will be displayed.

Parking

The hospice has its own private car park which is barrier controlled.  Please press the button to gain entry.  Please bear in mind that these are not allocated spaces and given on a first come, first served basis, therefore not everyone may be able to park here.

Other pay and display hospital parking is available just around the corner.

Accessibility

  • There are disabled parking spaces outside the main entrance.

  • Accessible toilets are available throughout the hospice.

  • There is a lift to the upstairs rooms.

If you have any other special access needs, please let us know as we are very happy to assist you.

Infection control

Our patients can easily catch infections. Please help to avoid this by using the hand gel provided at the entrance to the hospice and on the walls around the hospice.

As we are an acute medical facility, our restrictions may be more stringent or more restrictive than those that apply in the general population. All this is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

Smoking

The hospital, hospice and its grounds are non-smoking environments.

If you have any questions about visiting, please speak to the clinical matron or any member of the senior nursing team.

Who can visit?

Everyone is welcome! Visitors to the hospice can include babies, children and even pets. We do not impose any age restrictions although please ensure children are supervised at all times. If you would like to bring a pet, please notify a member of the team first.

Please bear in mind that too many visitors or visits for prolonged amounts of time, may exhaust your loved ones. Sometimes, we may have to limit the number of visitors for clinical reasons.
