Our popular memory walk will return on Saturday 19 September and, this year, we’ll be celebrating five years of hospice care in Winchester.
What to expect
The walk will start and end at a new location this year to allow for more people to attend.
Beginning in the Abbey Gardens at 7.30pm, the walk will be slightly longer than previous years and will follow a circular path bringing them back to the gardens where walkers will collect their medals.
We’re also ramping up interest along the route with a variety of light installations and we’re hoping to have live music to help walkers power through to the finish line. If any local acoustic acts would like to get involved, they’re encouraged to get in touch with the fundraising team at the hospice to see which spot might suit them best. Click here to submit your interest.
When should I arrive?
We invite people to register from 6.30pm and soak up the atmosphere before we head off.
How long is the walk?
To account for the new start and finishing venue, the walk will be slightly longer this year and will cover approximately 7km.
How much will it cost?
Tickets will remain the same as last year at just £10 for adult and £5 for children.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Dogs can join you on the walk for free - we just ask that they’re kept on a lead and under close control for the duration of the event, including in the gardens and on the walk.
Do I have to raise money?
As this is a fundraising event, the hospice would be grateful if those taking part were able to raise at least £25 in sponsorship to help fund further care of local people who need their support.
What do I wear?
Purple of course! We’ll have event t-shirt available for an additional price and glow accessories will be available to purchase on the night. Please come dressed however you feel comfortable but we welcome a purple theme so those you walk by know you’re supporting the hospice.
Where can I get tickets?
Tickets for the Purple Night Walk are now on sale and can be purchased via the button below.
