Celebrating five years of care at Winchester Hospice

Maddy Thomson, Winchester Hospice

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Winchester Hospice and in that time, our teams have cared for thousands of local people, and their families, at the most crucial of times.

I’m proud that I’ve been involved with the hospice from the very start, helping to identify the need for hospice care for the people of Winchester, right through to continuing to deliver exceptional care today.

At the start of the decade, I was overwhelmed with the response we received from the community when we announced our plans and asked you to help us fund the work to convert an old building on the hospital site into a dedicated hospice. You didn’t just show up for us, you went above and beyond, raising millions to help us achieve our goal.

On 18 September 2021, we welcomed our first patient to the hospice, and our doors have remained open, every single day, to those who have needed us ever since.

It really is thanks to you that we’re here. Not just for helping to get the building open five years ago, but each and every year since you’ve raised thousands of pounds to help fund the care of local people who need us both in the hospice building and in their own homes.

What an incredible achievement!

This year, as we celebrate our fifth year caring for the Winchester community, I’m writing to ask if you’ll continue to support us by making a donation to our spring appeal.

The truth is, we really couldn’t do what we do without you. Your support enables us to be there each and every day to offer our expert care for those living with a life limiting illness and for those at the end of their lives.

How your donation makes a difference

Over the last five years, your generous donations have helped us to host weddings for those wanting to cement their love, aided us in getting patients to visit places that are important to them for one last time, and enabled families to be together in those all-important last days.

Without you, none of this would be possible. I know times are difficult for many at the moment but, I can assure you, whatever you are able to spare will make a huge difference to the people we are proud to care for.

If you’d like to support our teams and help them care for even more local people, you can make your donation online via the button below . Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference to the care we can give.

On behalf of everyone at Winchester Hospice, thank you for helping us care for those who needed us most over the last five years. We’re incredibly grateful for your support and hope you’ll be with us throughout our next chapter and beyond.

With warmest wishes,

Maddy
