Winchester Hospice invites community to remember loved ones at Light up a Life service
On Monday 4 December, Winchester Hospice will host a special Light up a Life remembrance service to honour and cherish the lives of those who are no longer with us.
Taking place at Christ Church Winchester from 6pm, the service will provide a moment for all to come together in remembrance and make a dedication to someone they love.
Dedications, special messages and donations can all be made in advance of the service via the link here - those dedications received before Monday 27 November will be included in their book of remembrance and will be displayed on the night.
The service, which is free to attend, will feature seasonal carols, readings from special guests and will host warming drinks and minced pies for all to enjoy. Those attending will be given a special keepsake - a handmade decoration crafted by one of the hospice’s own staff members, Linda Snook.
Donna Coombs, clinical matron at Winchester Hospice, says: “I invite everyone to join us for a special evening together, as we remember those who we dearly miss’.
“Our hospice is such an invaluable service to have in the heart of our city. At this time of year, we ask those who cherish hospice care to consider donating to enable us to grow our services and be there for even more families in Winchester.”
Winchester Hospice’s Light up a Life service is for the whole Winchester community, not just those who have a connection with the hospice.
In support of the event, Winchester Radio will broadcast a special Light up a Life dedication programme for listeners. The event is also being supported by Belgarum Estate Agents, who are the sponsor for this years’ service.
Since opening back in September 2021, Winchester Hospice has cared for over 600 inpatients and over 300 individuals in their own homes needing palliative or end of life care. Every year, Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity must raise over £500,000 to support the service to continue and grow.
