Become an Ambassador

At Winchester Hospice, our Ambassadors are an incredibly important part of the work we do.

An ambassador is a vital representative of the hospice, responsible for fostering positive relationships within the local community. This role goes beyond that of a traditional volunteer, requiring a deep understanding of hospice activities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to serve as a liaison between the hospice and community. Our aim is to recruit one hospice ambassador for each of the areas in Winchester and the surrounding villages.  

How you can get involved

    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of our hospice services, upcoming events and fundraising initiatives

    • Act as a point of contact for local community groups and foster relationships with key individuals in your local community

    • Organise and host regular meetings with volunteers who live in your local area to provide updates on hospice news, events and initiatives

    • Encourage active participation and engagement among volunteers in your area in supporting hospice activities

    • Be our eyes and ears for the area - gather insights into your community needs and concerns.

    • Report feedback, suggestions and opportunities for improvement to the fundraising team

    • Attend and represent, with volunteers and other ambassadors, the hospice at community events, ensuring a positive and professional image is maintained

    • Knowledge and passion for hospice care and Winchester Hospice’s mission & values

    • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within the community

    • Understanding of local dynamics and community networks

    • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend commitments

Note

This role requires a commitment to the hospice’s values and goals, as well as the ability to represent with professionalism and empathy. Ambassadors play a crucial role in enhancing community support and awareness for hospice care at Winchester Hospice.
