Winchester Hospice invites community to join Light Up a Life remembrance service

This December, Winchester Hospice will come together with its community to remember and celebrate the lives of those who are no longer here through its Light Up a Life service.

Residents from Winchester and surrounding villages are invited to make a dedication in memory of a loved one, alongside a donation to the hospice’s charity.

Reverend Mike Griffiths will deliver the service again this year

The service will be held on Sunday 4th December at Highcliffe’s All Saints Church and is open to all - not just those who have felt the care of Winchester Hospice but also those in the wider community.

Maddy Thomson, trustee at Winchester Hospice and clinical lead for end of life care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, says: “Grief can be incredibly hard and perhaps more so at this festive time of year.

“Through this service, we really want to provide a space where everyone who has experienced loss is able come together with others to celebrate the lives of those who we dearly miss. Please do join us for this special evening if you can.”

The evening will feature seasonal Christmas carol singing and readings by special guests along with warming hot drinks and mince pies for all to enjoy.

Prior to the evening, Winchester Hospice is welcoming the city’s community to be part of its annual virtual Christmas carol, which will be shown at the Light Up a Life service. Individuals are encouraged to record their voice singing this year’s chosen carol ‘It Came Upon the Midnight Clear’ and submit it online.
