Winchester Hospice and city flower club team up to host autumn wreath making event
This October, the Winchester Flower Club and Winchester Hospice will jointly host their next wreath making workshop for those hoping to craft their own wreath this autumn and do so for a good cause.
After huge success of their first workshop back in March, the two organisations are inviting the community of Winchester to take part in their upcoming session which will take place on Saturday 14 October.
Guided by the Winchester Flower Club, formerly known as the Winchester Floral Design Society, those participating will be able to make their own autumnal wreath and learn the tips and tricks of floral design all whilst enjoying free tea and cake.
The workshop will be held at Brethren’s Hall in the historic grounds of the Hospital of St Cross from 10.30am until 1pm.
Tickets to attend include all materials and foliage needed, including seasonal berries and fruits, to make a beautiful wreath which participants will be able to take home with them after the workshop.
All proceeds raised on the morning will support Winchester Hospice, the only adult hospice in Winchester providing specialist palliative and end of life care to those with life-limiting illness in the city and surrounding areas.
Maddy Thomson, consultant nurse and clinical lead for end of life care at Winchester Hospice and trustee for Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity says: “We are delighted to be bringing this wonderful event back to help support the vital services we provide here for those within our hospice as well as those in our community.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the generosity of local organisations like the Winchester Flower Club so we are incredibly grateful to have their support.”
Rosalind Hall, chair of the Winchester Flower Club, says: “Our first workshop in the spring was a complete sell out and it was such a fantastic morning, we just knew we must do it again!
“The workshop will provide a great opportunity for floral creativity and we can’t wait to share our passion for such an important cause.”
The wreath making workshop will form part of the hospice’s celebrations of Hospice Care Week, a yearly campaign led by Hospice UK to celebrate hospice care across the country.
Places to the session can be bought for £35 by visiting the link here.
